Digital Storytelling Level One Internship
Who is eligible?
- Part-time or Full-time students currently enrolled in classes at Montgomery College
- Previous experience creating a digital story for a Montgomery College class is preferred
- Written recommendation from a Montgomery College faculty or staff member
The Level One Internship is an 80-hour commitment focused on three branches: Development/Training,
Service and Support, and Leadership.
This is a paid, professional position compensated with an $850 non-taxable scholarship.
It also is a unique and impressive addition to your resume.
A Level One Digital Storytelling Intern has the following responsibilities
- Bi-weekly professional development seminars on Fridays from 1:00-3:00pm either on Rockville campus at the Paul Peck Humanities Institute or on Zoom where interns learn about digital storytelling, collaboration, tutoring, faculty support, communication, leadership, and professionalism.
- Approximately 50 hours of internship responsibilities supporting faculty and students engaged in digital storytelling projects.
- Interns assist faculty members during class visits to support digital storytelling projects for a minimum of three (3) class visits.
- Each intern hosts three (3) office hours per week on Zoom to assist students and faculty who require digital storytelling help.
- Interns create one collaborative digital story with the cohort and one individual digital story over the course of the semester.
- Interns plan and present their completed digital stories in an end-of-the-semester showcase for the Montgomery College community.
- In fall semesters, interns also plan and present during Montgomery College’s annual Humanities Days.
- Each semester is a unique experience, so additional creative and professional experiences may be included as they arise.

The typical application process begins with Montgomery College’s Community of Practice in Digital Storytelling, for we ask faculty, staff, and administrator members to share the application with students they believe would be interested in the internship as well as students who have some experience with the technology involved.
If you are a student who has not learned about the internship or the application process, though, and are interested in applying, please follow this procedure:
- Complete the Digital Storytelling Internship Application and upload the required documentation.
Applications are accepted during the final four weeks of the semester.

identify should complete this fillable internship-specific recommendation form. This is required and applications will not be considered without a recommendation.
